We foster a culture of care that extends beyond the workplace, we’re all one big happy family…
Families Ashore
At Berge Bulk, we value our people as individuals, not just as employees. When seafarers expressed concerns about family wellbeing, finances and future planning, we implemented our Families Ashore programme to support our employees and their families.
Key Points
- Core Values: We focus on seafarer welfare, community engagement, learning, and environmental stewardship.
- Workshops Offered: Includes marriage guidance, healthy living, financial management, mental health, culinary skills, soap-making, and small business strategies.
- Family Involvement: Families can participate in volunteering efforts, enhancing connections among employees and their families.
- Expansion: Initially launched in the Philippines, the programme has now expanded to India and is set to launch in China.
- Community Impact: Events like beach clean-ups promote environmental responsibility and community engagement.
Engaging with your families…
Recognising the importance of family connection and wellbeing, Berge Bulk created the Families Ashore programme to create a supportive community for our seafarers’ families.
This initiative connects families with one another and offers engaging activities throughout the year. It promotes a spirit of community, whilst extending its mission beyond internal support to include charitable endeavours and local outreach.

The Families Ashore programme’s core values include:
- Seafarer welfare.
- Learning.

Family Volunteering
Through our Families Ashore programme, it’s not only our shore team and seafarers who can volunteer — their families are able to participate too.
This joint effort helps to foster connections between Berge Bulk employees’ families, whilst promoting environmental stewardship in the communities that we serve.
The video below shows a Families Ashore beach clean-up event at Navotas Rizal, Philippines. Over 200 participants, including Berge Bulk seafarers and their families, worked together to clean up the beach and plant 200 mangrove trees:
