Nurturing our workforce…

You Matter logo

The health and wellbeing of our colleagues is a top priority for Berge Bulk and our holistic You Matter initiative places equal emphasis on all aspects of personal wellbeing — from physical activity and good nutrition, to mental health, social interaction and each individuals’ professional growth.

We understand that no matter how technologically advanced our fleet or our office systems are, it is people who are at the heart of our success.

Happy, healthy people enjoy their work

Healthy colleagues are happier, more alert, and able to work more safely and efficiently, both at sea and on shore, and we are particularly aware of the inherent challenges that seafarers face. Due to the demanding and isolated nature of their work and lives onboard, extra care and attention is given to their health and wellbeing.

By fostering a holistic approach to health, we place equal emphasis on the various aspects of personal wellbeing.

Four Areas of Wellbeing

To achieve this, we have implemented targeted initiatives across four key wellbeing domains:

Well@Sea

The delivery and promotion of our wellbeing programmes take place through our Well@Sea platform — a digital resource dedicated to the health and wellbeing of our seafarers.

Well@Sea employs evidence-based solutions to enhance the overall wellbeing of seafarers by addressing various aspects of their health, including physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. This mobile-friendly system is designed to support crew wellbeing in all dimensions and has been implemented across our entire fleet.

Awarded for Our Commitment to Health & Wellbeing

In collaboration with Well@Sea, we were proud to receive the Health & Wellbeing at Sea Award at the Seatrade Maritime Crew Connect Global Awards.

This accolade reflects our shared dedication to enhancing the physical, mental and social wellbeing of our crew members. It emphasises our ongoing efforts to foster a healthier and more supportive environment for our invaluable seafaring team.

These awards focus on recognising and celebrating excellence in the maritime industry, especially in crew welfare and management. They aim to showcase innovations and best practices that improve the lives of seafarers, tackling issues such as mental health, physical wellbeing, and the overall crew experience.
