Our Five Key Areas approach supports the learning, development, and growth of our crew and shore based employees:
- Mandatory Courses: Compliance-related topics that equip all our employees with the critical knowledge essential to the success of the business.
- Functional Skills: Specific training and curated topics that apply to particular skills or job roles.
- Interpersonal Skills: Courses and online eLearning modules to help employees enhance their interpersonal skills, maximising their potential and creating value in their day-to-day work.
- Safety Leadership: Safety is a critical focus at Berge Bulk. This programme is designed to equip Senior Officers, Vessel Managers, and Marine Superintendents with practical skills as safety performance drivers.
- Leadership Development: Focusing on individual leadership, team leadership and leading the organisation. Each learning track is curated to help officers and employees grow in their respective leadership responsibilities.
Leadership & Technical Training
Leadership and technical training contribute to organisational success by equipping employees with the skills, knowledge, and mindset necessary to thrive in their roles and contribute positively to the company’s objectives.
Berge Bulk Senior & Junior Leaders Programme
A leadership programme unique to Berge Bulk, developed specifically for our Top 4 officers. The programme is designed to enhance the leadership skills of our Top 4 in two critical areas: Leading People and Safety Leadership.
Leading People
Leading People aims to equip our leaders with tools, skills, and strategies to engage our workforce and maximise their potential. It helps leaders understand how to draw on and optimise personal skill sets to achieve results. It also raises self-awareness regarding strengths and limitations, nurturing the capacity for growth and development.
Safety Leadership
Safety Leadership aims to develop an understanding of safety performance drivers. While people can be educated on safety, it takes time for real behavioural changes to take effect. The Safety Leadership concept involves changing perceptions, mindsets, and correcting bad habits. This module is designed for Senior Officers.
Simulator Training
In addition to Leadership training, we also aim to sharpen the competence of our crew through Simulator Training with customised programmes such as:
- Safe Navigation Programme.
- Engine Room Emergency Management Programme.
- Engine Room Emergency Operations Programme
Our programmes can simulate a wide range of scenarios and conditions, providing trainees with exposure to diverse situations they may encounter at sea. This adaptability allows training programmes to be tailored to specific learning objectives, skill levels, and operational requirements.
By simulating potential hazards and emergencies, simulator training allows us to assess and mitigate risks effectively, preparing trainees to handle unexpected events confidently.
Technical Training
Technical functional training for specific skills is designed to improve crews’ ability to perform specific tasks related to their roles onboard. This training focuses on enhancing the technical abilities required for job performance.
