Shore Team Beach Clean Ups
All Hands on Deck was launched in 2020 as our annual volunteering initiative for the Berge Bulk shore team.
To deliver this event, we teamed up with Seven Clean Seas — a Singapore-based social purpose organisation that is on a mission to end ocean plastic waste.
During the month of October, colleagues from the Berge Bulk shore team ventured out to Singapore’s Sembawang Beach, where they were tasked to collect plastic waste and track its weight. To introduce healthy competition, prizes were awarded to the colleagues who collected the most waste and found the most unusual item.
Over the course of the activity, more than 100 colleagues participated — collectively cleaning up over 400kg of plastic waste.
“There are a lot of harmful shards of glass, metal or plastic with sharp edges that can injure marine life. Helping to clean-up the beach creates a safer environment for all.”Jeannie Woo
